Entrance Exam Preparation Course, Monday 7-8pm
At Bradley Stoke our 11+ course is tailored to prepare children for the entrance exams of the numerous academy and independent schools in the Bristol and South Gloucestershire area. Year 5 pupils on the course cover verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills, as well as interview techniques. The course works to develop children’s confidence and independent learning skills. Classes are held on Monday evenings from 7-8 pm and are taught by a manager.
Succeed in Secondary, Wednesday 7-8pm
This unique course is designed to help children prepare for life at secondary school and build confidence during the transition from primary school. Open to pupils in year 6,7,8 and 9 it provides an opportunity for our older members to express opinions, build study skills, research, debate and present their ideas. To find out more, please contact a manager at the centre.
Explore Writing, Thursday 7-8pm
Our popular creative writing course is designed to excite children who may be more reluctant with literacy, challenge those children who already enjoy it and inspire those who struggle to get their ideas down on paper. During the course, children explore different styles of writing as well as developing their confidence and enthusiasm, resulting in work can be proud of! To book a trial session, please contact a manager at the centre.
Explore Learning and Schools
Since opening, the team at Bradley Stoke have worked with many local schools and have provided free numeracy and literacy workshops. Our workshops are national curriculum aligned and are designed to get children really enthusiastic about their work. We can provide assembly activities and love to get involved with other activities happening at the schools i.e. school fetes.
If you would like us to get involved in activities in your school, please don’t hesitate to contact the centre as we will be happy to provide you with a booking form and details for the literacy and numeracy workshops over the next couple of terms, or to discuss other possibilities with you.
Workshops
We have thoroughly enjoyed getting involved with our local community. We have been to many local leisure centres playing interactive games with children. We also regularly arrange fun Maths and English workshops at local libraries, which are free for families in the area. Look out for upcoming events at your local library or contact Bradley Stoke Explore Learning for more information. If you are a member of David Lloyd in Westbury, we are holding several literacy workshops in the new children's area on Tuesday 29th September at 4.30 pm. Please contact the gym for details.
Centre News
Open Sessions
Open sessions are a brilliant opportunity for our current families to see for themselves their children working at the centre and get more information about curriculum and current teaching methods. Also, it is a great opportunity to meet our fantastic tutors. We always listen to feedback from parents when planning open sessions. For example, we have recently held a forum to teach parents modern teaching methods, in order to help hem with their child's homework. If you are a current parent and have any suggestions for the next open session please let us know.
Holiday Workshops
During the holidays we are open longer and have lots of interactive workshops for our members. It is a great opportunity for children to keep their brains ticking over until the new term starts! We publish the schedule of free workshops in our centre; pay us a visit to sign up for the workshops. Keep your eyes peeled for our regular "non-member's workshop days", held during most half-terms.

Quotes
From Parents...
"Explore Learning has helped my child to experience learning through a different medium to what is traditionally taught in a classroom environment. The interactive nature of the computer based sessions and the 'lizard card' systems have helped my child to increase his confidence and see real progress in key curriculum areas."
Elizabeth Federer, Explore Parent
"The last parent’s consultation at school before Jack (6) started at Explore was depressing and disappointing, I was told about all the things he wasn’t good at. The recent one was a totally different story. After 3 months at Explore Jack appears to have come leaps and bounds – I actually left there smiling! He is more confident answering questions in a group situation and his reading has improved so much that he has moved up a level"
Kathy Newport, Explore Parent
'The tutors are patient and they care. The parent consultations are very thorough, insightful and I enjoy being part of the planning for future learning strategies.' Liza Strong, Explore Parent
