11+ Preparation Course
At Chelmsford our 11+ course is designed to prepare children for the entrance exams of the nearby schools in Essex. Year 5 pupils on the course cover verbal reasoning as well as extending their maths and literacy skills and developing their confidence. Classes are held throughout the week and taught by a manager. For more details on the times of the classes, please contact the centre.
Succeed and Secondary
This course is designed to help children prepare for life at secondary school and build confidence during the transition from primary school. Open to pupils in year 6,7,8 and 9 it provides an opportunity for our older members to express opinions, build study skills, research, debate and present their ideas. The course runs every Wednesday 7.00pm – 8.00pm. To book a trial session, please contact a manager at the centre.
Explore Writing
This creative writing course is designed to excite children who may be more reluctant with literacy, challenge those children who already enjoy it and inspire those who struggle to get their ideas down on paper. During the course, children explore different styles of writing as well as developing their confidence and enthusiasm and producing work they are proud of! The course runs on Tuesday and Thursday nights between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. To book a trial session, please contact a manager at the centre.
The Chelmsford Community Programme
Since the centre opened in 2001, the team in Chelmsford have enjoyed working with local schools, providing free maths and literacy workshops and assemblies that the children enjoy taking part in. We regularly visit 15 local schools with these activities and competitions and a special mention should go to Newland Spring’s Year 4 pupils for winning the design a character competition early this year. Also, Barnes Farm pupils won a regional competition for their high quality story writing entries in our latest competition!
At Chelmsford, we also like to get involved with other community groups such as Brownies and have recently visited Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre to get involved in their holiday activities for children. If you are interested in getting involved in our free maths and literacy workshops, please contact Jas on 01245 450501.
