What our parents think...
"We considered tutors for our three boys but were put off by the formality and school like atmosphere. In the first three months since joining Explore our children have progressed by up to half a school year in both literacy and maths. The children positively look forward to attending sessions, the tutors make learning fun and we struggle to get them to leave!"

The Emerson 11+ course is tailored to the entrance exams for secondary schools in the local area, including Colston's Upper School, St. Ursula's, John Cabot - CTC, Bristol Grammer School, Redland High School for Girls, and The Red Maids' School. We teach small groups in a stimulating setting where we equip children with the knowledge and experience to achieve their potential. The 11 month course runs from February and is for children in Year 5.
Succeed in Secondary, Thursday Succeed in Secondary is a course that is designed to help prepare children for life at secondary school and build confidence during the transition into Year 7 and beyond. Open to pupils in year 6,7,8 and 9 it provides an opportunity for our older members to express opinions, build study skills, research, debate and present their ideas. To find out more, please contact a manager at the centre.
Explore Writing, Monday or Wednesday
Our popular creative writing course is designed to excite children who may be more reluctant with literacy, challenge those children who already enjoy it and inspire those who struggle to get their ideas down on paper. Explore Writing is open to all members aged 8-14.
Lead by Explore Tutors, the course gives children the opportunity to:
stretch their imagination
become skilled in a range of writing styles
produce pieces of work they can be proud of

Explore Learning and Schools
At Emersons Green Explore, we work alongside lots of schools in the area, complementing the great work our members are doing in the classroom. Last academic year, we worked alongside 35 local schools, hosting free literacy workshops, maths rallies, and story-telling workshops. Among many others, we have visited Mangotsfield Primary, Cherry Garden Primary, Pucklechurch Primary, The Park Primary, Ridge Junior School, Rodford Primary, Glenfrome Primary, Begbrook Primary, St. Joseph's Primary, Raysfield Junior, Longwell Green Primary, Kings Forest Primary, and Blackhorse Primary.
Please call us on 01179 573935 to find out what literacy and numeracy workshops we can hold for your class or community group.
What teachers think...
“Explore complements the classroom environment. It’s not like at school where if you are behind, you are removed from the main part of the class if you can’t do something. Everybody (at Explore) has their own, unique programs. Not everybody knows what level everyone else is at, how old everyone is, what they might be doing at school. I see it as something that can give children a boost and improve their confidence. I think it’s very good that learning can be seen as fun.” Miss Christopher, Teacher, May Park Primary, Bristol
Free Holiday Workshops For Members
During every school holiday we run free maths and literacy workshops for our members, giving them the chance to take part in a stimulating, interactive session, working with other children and doing something just a little bit different.
We publish the schedule of free workshops in our centre, so pay us a visit and see what we're offering over the coming months.
