Explore Writing
Explore Writing is a fantastic creative writing course for children aged 8+. This course is designed to stretch budding young authors as well as encouraging more reluctant writers. Children are taught a variety of writing techniques by our enthusiastic tutors and are encouraged to enjoy exploring their creative sides.
This course runs every Wednesday 6.45pm - 7.45pm.
Succeed in Secondary
Succeed in Secondary invites members in Year 6 and above to engage in topical debates, learn vital presentational skills and develop a mature attitude to learning. Each project is aimed at developing expertise to ease the transition from primary to secondary.
The Succeed in Secondary course runs every Tuesday 6.45pm - 7.45pm.
11+ / Entrance Exam Tuition
Entrance exams are often an unfamiliar area of study for children. This course helps to develop their verbal and non-verbal reasoning skills, as well as improve their core skills in English and maths. Our enthusiastic and knowledgeable tutors ensure children are given great insight into how to best prepare for the exams, with a range of techniques explored each week and complemented by realistic exam practice.
This course runs every Thursday 6.30pm - 7.30pm.
Open Sessions
Open Sessions are a fantastic way for our parents to learn more about their child's course. Parents are invited to attend a session and work through a course while being tutored by their child. This gives the children a great confidence boost as they can show their parents examples of their progress with Explore Learning. It is also a great opportunity to find out more about the other courses we can offer at Explore Learning. You can sign up for any of these workshops at the centre, or alternatively, just give us a ring for more information on 01252 727673.
Open Session dates:
- Wednesday 27th January 2010, 6.00pm - 7.30pm 'Meet the Managers' Come and have a go on you child's course and get to know the managers and tutors. A great opportunity to see what goes on in your child's session and maybe even earn some of your own lizard cards!
- Thursday 4th February 2010, 6.00pm - 7.00pm 'Clicker Phonics' Aimed at parents of children aged 4-7, this session will show you what phonics is and how it is taught in school, how our programme supports this teaching and what you can do at home to support your child with their learning.
- Wednesday 24th February 2010, 6.45pm - 7.45pm 'Explore Writing' Parents and children can come along and find out about this great creative writing course that we offer to children aged 8+.
- Tuesday 23rd March 2010, 6.45pm - 7.45pm 'Succeed in Secondary' For members in year 6 or above, this session will give parents and children more information about our course for older members, which can help with the transition from primary to secondary school, as well as consolidating learning at secondary school.
Explore and Schools
At Explore Learning we work closely with local schools, offering free maths and literacy workshops designed to inspire pupils. These workshops can be held within the classroom or the Explore Learning centre. We have recently worked with the following schools:

We have a fantastic 'Winter Sports' theme in Surf Club at the moment with activities for all children to take part in. Come and find out about the Winter Olympics happening this year in Vancouver, or have a go at a puzzle, quiz, colouring sheet or just to debate your favourite sport!
