Maths and English tuition in Lakeside

Since opening in February 2009, over 200 families have joined Explore Learning in Lakeside. The centre is a wonderful environment for children to develop their core skills and their confidence. Our tutors are great at motivating and encouraging children to help them reach their full potential. Parents receive regular feedback and are impressed by the progress that their children are already making.

"I feel that my child is benefiting a great deal from Explore Learning. He is gaining confidence and mixing with new people. All the staff are approachable and supportive and the level of service is excellent."
K. Treleaven, Lakeside parent

Explore and Local Schools

We are currently running free maths and literacy workshops in various local schools including Chafford Hundred Primary, Warren Primary, Herringham Primary, Shaw Primary, Scotts Primary, Graham James Primary, Abbots Hall Primary, St Mary's Primary, Bulphan Primary, Benyon Primary, Lansdowne Primary and Dilkes Primary.

We really enjoyed working with local schools on the National Young Writers' Award workshops last half-term - we've received loads of fantastic entries and are going to have a tough job judging them all. Thank you and well done to everyone who has entered! The deadline is 5th March, and the overall and regional winners will be announced later in the month.

Throughout March and April we are holding free numeracy workshops for years 2 and 5, designed to encourage children and build their confidence in maths. We also have a workshop coming up with 7th Grays Brownie Pack! If you would like us to visit your Brownies, Rainbows, Beavers or Cubs group please speak to one of the managers!

What teachers have to say about our free schools programme...

"It was a change to the norm, interactive, competitive, cross-curricular, 'pacey' and well-resourced."
Mr Gatenby, Year 3 teacher at Herringham Primary

"Very good interaction with children! Well supported, constant praising and encouragement. The workshop made the children aware of some of the elements which would help them to improve their creative writing."
Miss Brand, Year 5 class teacher at Chafford Hundred Primary.

"The tutors interacted really well, speaking at the right level and including all the children."
Mrs Hindes, Year 3 teacher at Graham James Primary

Please call us on 01708 869 650 to find out what literacy and numeracy workshops we can hold for your class or community group.

What our parents have to say...

"Louis has just had his exams in school and had no problems with them, where he would have struggled before. My children love coming here and would come in for more than two sessions per week if they could."
Paula O'Neill (Lakeside parent)

"The friendliness of the tutors has offered us an encouraging prospect as my son is now more open to learning and more excited about it. He is happier about learning, especially in maths as that was a subject he lacked confidence in."
Michelle Wheeley (Lakeside parent)

"Denzel's confidence has improved and Kimberley feels a lot more challenged. The level of service is excellent and we receive thorough feedback."
Patricia Okwuasaba (Lakeside parent)

What teachers have to say...

"The tutors kept pupils engaged at all times, challenging their thinking and listening skills."
Class teacher at Shaw Primary

"All the children were focused and putting their hands up. They asked when the tutors were coming back, and really enjoyed the maths activity."
Mrs Arnott, teaching assistant at Bulphan Primary

"The tutors supported and scaffolded learning rather than doing it for them. All the children were actively engaged and smiling. What a great way to get children excited about learning!"
Miss Katz, teacher at Chafford Hundred Primary.

"We have talked about similes in our target work so it was great to build on it. The children were engaged in the writing task and they were happy."
Ms. Syed, Year 4 class teacher at Chafford Hundred Primary.
