Creative writing comes alive with storyboards, letters, newspapers and diaries. This course is held weekly in special workshops.
Children work at their own pace and produce a piece of creative writing approximately every 5 weeks. Tutors and Managers lead the sessions and give guidance on grammar, vocabulary and creative ideas. This is a fantastic course for both those that love writing and those that find it a challenge.

The MAIN Benefits:
1. Children improve the overall quality of their writing and stretch their imagination.
2. Children increase their confidence, grow in enthusiasm and feel pride in their writing accomplishments.
3. Children explore different writing styles whilst improving grammar and spelling skills.
4. Children are better prepared for writing in assessments e.g. SATs.
Explore Writing uses Kar2ouche's Reading and Writing stories software led by our team of Explore Tutors and Managers. The course provides structured lessons that guide students through to completing a piece of written work for example a story, newspaper article or a diary entry.
The lessons cover different aspects of writing and use established authors as models. For example there are extracts from Anne Fine, Alan Garner, C S Lewis and the poet John Walsh. The activities support the development of students' creative skills, in helping them to plan, organise and sustain their writing. Staff are on hand to explain writing techniques, to mark work and most importantly to help children develop an interest in writing.
HOW EXPLORE WRITING WORKS:
Children between the ages of 8 and 14 can join the Explore writing course.
Children can join the course at any time.
We suggest that children commit to a minimum of 6 months of the course to achieve sustained benefits.
The course runs on a set day each week and is led by one of the centre managers.
During a session children work independently through a series of projects.
The Explore tutor will guide students through the writing process giving them support and guidance throughout their project work.
Depending on age and regular attendance, students generally produce one piece of written work ever 4-5 weeks.
