What is Black History Month and why do we celebrate it?

October is Black History Month in the UK, an event that has been celebrated nationwide for more than 30 years.

Black History Month was set up to shine a light on the achievements of black people that have not always been represented in history books. People who have made a huge impact both in the UK and around the world deserve to have their achievements celebrated. We know that history should be told in full, throughout the year! This is just one opportunity to find out more.
