We work with each child and their family to understand their individual needs and whether the tools and tutors will be best suited to achieving their goals. 

Parents tell us that Explore Learning is an environment where their child can learn differently. Perhaps they learn better with computers and headphones; with a smaller ratio of teacher support; with coloured screens or audio instructions to make material more accessible; where the stigma of working at a certain level is removed because everyone is working on their own individual programme. 

All children learn differently and our tutors find a way to support them at a pace and level that suits them. They help them to take the skills and attitude back into the classroom so ultimately they can succeed in school.

We have strategies to help support children in many aspects of learning, including:

We currently support around 4000 students with SEND across our learning centres and online. That's around 15% of our membership.

No, Explore Tutors are not SEN specialists. Our tutors work with your child as an individual. They adapt their teaching style to meet your child's needs. Explore Learning tutors are the ultimate cheerleaders. They are patient, kind and celebrate each child's successes whilst instilling positive learning habits.

We can't guarantee that your child will have the same tutor every session. However your child's needs and the way they like to work will be explained to anyone working with your child so they can have the most positive experience possible. This gentle introduction of change and flexibility can support many children to adapt to change in other environments too.

We offer a free trial session so that we can all understand whether the Explore Learning approach will be the best fit for your child. In a trial, children will need to listen and follow a tutor's instructions. They will answer questions on a computer or tablet that map to the National Curriculum without parental support. If your child is unable to access the Early years curriculum they may not be ready for Explore Learning tuition yet.

Yes. Many families attend Explore Learning to top up the work they are covering at home. Our vibrant learning centres allow children to socialise with others and experience a structured learning environment in small chunks. They also follow a curriculum personalised to their level and pace of learning. Whilst you’re not required to follow the National Curriculum when home schooling, it can be useful to include some curriculum-mapped learning if you want your child to take qualifications or return to school at a later date or new school year. Explore Learning can support you with this.

The Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a simple tool for any adult or child to voluntarily share that they have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that they may need a helping hand, understanding, or more time while out and about. We welcome any children who wish to wear the sunflower lanyard but there is no pressure to do so. We will always work hard to ensure that you have as smooth and as welcoming an experience in our centres as possible.

We cannot provide families with an official diagnosis. However we will provide regular feedback and detailed reports that give an overview of your child's learning needs.

If you already have an EHCP or learning plan from school we would love you to share this with us so we can compliment the support your child is receiving at school.

We care about your child and take their safety and wellbeing seriously. All our staff receive regular safeguarding training and have Enhanced DBS/PVG checks. Our centres in England are also registered with Ofsted. Tutors are supervised in centres and a member of the management team is able to view sessions taking place online.
