Our SEND tutors get to know your child, not just their needs on paper, and work with you to find the right fit for what you want to achieve together. Around 8,000 children with special educational needs learn with us each year across our centres and online, so you're not alone in this. 

Many parents tell us their child learns differently here, and in a good way. That might mean:

Every child follows their own individual programme, so there's no sense of being "behind" a set level, just working at theirs. Our tutors also know how to support:

Every child learns differently, and our SEND tutors adapt to match their pace. The confidence they build here can ease pressure at home as well as in school. 

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. It's the term used across most of the UK to describe children who need extra support to learn, whether that's because of a specific learning difficulty like dyslexia or dyscalculia, a condition like autism or ADHD, a speech, language or communication need, or something else that makes the standard classroom approach harder to access. 

SEND tutoring means shaping the learning itself around your child, rather than expecting your child to adapt to a fixed way of teaching. That can mean a different pace, a different environment, a different way of explaining the same idea, or simply someone with the time and patience to notice what's getting in the way. 

Additional Support Needs (ASN) in Scotland

In Scotland, the equivalent term is Additional Support Needs, or ASN, used instead of SEND. The principle is the same: a child who needs extra support to access their learning, for any reason, short or long term. ASN is a deliberately broad term. It can cover a diagnosed condition, a learning difficulty, an emotional or social barrier, or a temporary need arising from a family circumstance, and a child doesn't need a formal diagnosis for that need to be recognised and supported. 

No, and we are upfront about it. Our tutors get to know your child and adapt to meet their unique needs. They receive regular training and are supported by managers and education experts. If your child needs specialist clinical support, we will tell you honestly and point you to the right support. 

1:1 is available for our online SEND tuition only. In centre, our tutors support up to six children during a session, great for building social relationships in a gentler setting than a classroom. Your child’s learning is always personalised to them throughout. 

We do our best to keep tuition sessions consistent, because a familiar face matters, especially for children who find change hard. Sometimes change is unavoidable, and we'll support your child through it to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.
