Key Stage 2

Key Stage 2 is the bridge between KS1 and KS3. It is taught in Years 3-6, when children are between 7 and 11 years-old.

English lessons include themes, plots and figurative language

Maths lessons include fractions, decimals, percentages and geometry

What happens in KS2?

Key Stage 2 covers years 3, 4, 5 and 6 of primary school. These years are all about your child mastering core maths and English skills. They are learning more independence socially and academically. They are starting to think for themselves, take on more responsibility and figuring out what really interests them.

There’s a strong emphasis on mental maths including the Year 4 Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) and focus on English reading and writing in readiness for the SATs and move to secondary school.
