There's no single, standardised curriculum for the 11 Plus. Because of this, exam boards and grammar schools can each set their own mix of subjects and question styles. Most 11 Plus exams include a selection of: maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning. Occasionally, students will tackle spatial reasoning questions too.

In English, children are typically tested on their reading comprehension, writing ability, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Maths papers focus on Key Stage 2 curriculum knowledge, but also push children to apply that knowledge to new and unfamiliar problem types.
