Welcome to Explore Learning Aberdeen, one of our many learning and tuition centres designed to ignite a curiosity for learning within your child. We have been in Aberdeen since November 2014, building relationships with the local community and inspiring children in maths and English.
We have members from across Aberdeen city, including Cults, Kingswells and Peterculter. We also have members from Balmedie, Kintore, Portlethen and Banchory who travel from Aberdeenshire to see us! You can come along to the centre once or twice a week at a time convenient for you. Our members come to the centre and work on their own individualised maths and English courses – all mapped to the Curriculum for Excellence.

Our tutors will get to know your child individually
Aberdeen Centre Director
Our education centre is run by managers Lauren, Brad and Olivia and a team of dedicated tutors. Our tutors come from a range of backgrounds, with many training to be teachers and others fulfilling their love of inspiring children while studying to become a doctor or an engineer! We want all our members to get to know our tutors and see them as role models. You will receive regular parent meetings with Lauren, Brad or Olivia and they will be able to give you information about your child’s progress and answer any questions you have about your child’s school work or the curriculum. Alongside this, we also have a range of additional courses which are designed to engage your child in a specific area of the curriculum.
We have unique courses specific to creative writing, problem solving and transitioning to secondary school. In our Creative Writing course, our members can learn how to develop and expand ideas through various projects before presenting them. Our Creative Maths class offers invaluable practice in problem solving and recording mathematical solutions. If your child is moving to secondary school, you can join our Succeed in Secondary class.
This class focuses on areas such as debating, presenting and essay writing, all while looking into worldly topics. For those who are looking to gain entrance to Robert Gordon’s College, Albyn School, St Margaret’s or International School Aberdeen, we have a specific Entrance Exam class. This class is designed for those seeking S1 entry to any of the above schools. It is tailored to the local exams, with practice in maths, English, verbal reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.

All our tutors are experts in the school curriculum and receive regular training on current teaching methods. Our team love their jobs and this passion created a vibrant, positive working environment where children can thrive.
Journey to success
We celebrate every child, not based on others, year groups or levels, but based on them. That’s why we’ve managed to support over 175,000 children to become confident learners who are ready to take their next step, whatever that may be.
11 Plus and Entrance Exams
We have developed an 11 Plus and Entrance Exam offering that is tailored to suit the schools in your local area. We want every child to reach their potential and do their very best in school, and our tuition is the best possible support on your child’s journey into grammar school.
Our specialist course can help your child prepare for entrance to the following local schools:
- Robert Gordon’s College
- St Margaret’s School for Girls
- Albyn School
Our course is open to all. We don’t pre-test – we welcome any child with the ambition and drive to go to grammar school or independent school. Students on the 11 Plus course attend twice a week and also have access to a fantastic online resource, so they can practise unlimited non-verbal and verbal reasoning exam style questions any time they want.
Tailored flexible session
The key to success at 11 Plus is a strong foundation in core maths and English skills. We use technology than enables us to offer material that is exactly right for your child, and our tutors are on-hand to give individual attention so we can stretch and challenge your child to reach their potential.
Beyond the exam
We don’t believe in simply ‘teaching to a test’ – after all, the test the very beginning of your child’s journey into their secondary career. To support your child in the run up to, during and once they have made the transition to secondary education, we can continue to support them with the new challenges they face.
