Explore Learning raises over £5000 for CHAS
April 28, 2022
On 24th April, a team of 30 of our hardy Explore Learning employees took on the Kiltwalk challenge in Glasgow, a 22.7 mile hike from the city centre to the banks of Loch Lomond. Their efforts were rewarded with raising over £5,200 for CHAS, Children’s Hospices Across Scotland.
CHAS provide care for children with life-shortening conditions throughout Scotland. They offer support to the whole family through dedicated hospices, specialist medical care, family respite, home and family support. For over twenty years CHAS have made a lasting difference to families experiencing the most challenging of circumstances. We are proud to support them.
All Explore employees are encouraged to volunteer and support charities close to their heart. In addition to their annual leave they are given 2 days to use each year to give back to the community, to challenge themselves and boost their own wellbeing.
Laura Goodwin, Customer Experience Manager for Explore Learning has taken part in the Kiltwalk 5 times now.
“Training to walk 22 miles in a day has been a commitment I’ve been proud to take on. It’s given me time out to focus on my health, which sometimes takes a backseat when I’m juggling work and 3 children. I’ve enjoyed building friendships with my walking buddies, learnt where my weak spots for blisters were and taken precautionary measures, and listened to my body to ensure I was fuelling it properly. It’s a great opportunity to put my resilience to the test and demonstrate to my kids and colleagues that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. It’s a great feeling completing the challenge – especially knowing that it’s in aid of such a worthy cause.”
All donations to the Kiltwalk are being topped up by 50% by Sir Tom Hunter and the Hunter Foundation. Explore Learning are currently the 38th highest fundraising team out of the 197 teams taking part and there’s still time to give. You can donate here.
